BRACENET x PMDP
We’re going into round two with the Papahanaumokuakea Marine Debris Project!
Ghost nets don't stop anywhere.
Not even in front of the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Indeed, they are threatening the marine flora and fauna around the largely untouched northwestern islands of the area. Even though commercial fishing has long been banned in this marine protected area, old fishing nets still find their way here with the current so that more than 400 tonnes have accumulated. As the nets drift back and forth, they destroy coral reefs and threaten marine animals such as the already endangered Hawaiian monk seal.
NEW: Products made from ghost nets from Hawaii!
The Papahānaumokuākea Marine Debris Project (PMDP) has made it its mission to protect this area from marine debris. Among other things, the team goes out every year to recover ghost nets. They are also constantly looking for creative ways to process their salvaged nets – and that's where we come in, of course! Last year, we already raised €2,130 in donations with Bracenets and Keychains from their nets. Now we are going into the next round with the Hawaii Bracenet II: For every product sold, we donate X € to the PMDP to support their important mission!
