BRACENET founders Madeleine & Ben and their friend Tobi are not only united by their long-term collaboration in a Hamburg advertising agency. They also have common themes when it comes to pets: living with cats. And inevitably: how bad a litter box can smell. How annoying litter is between your toes. And how often an open bag of litter can tip over... The sad realization while drinking coffee together: Nowhere was there a cat litter that prevented odors and that didn't spread around the apartment after every toilet visit.

CAT LITTER - BUT PLEASE HEALTHY AND SUSTAINABLE
Many conventional cat litters are based on bentonite. Scratching in the litter box can produce harmful fine dust. For the health of our cats, an ecological and as sustainable as possible alternative was needed - and so the idea for TATZENSTREU was born at the end of 2020.
What followed: several years of intensive research, exchanges with veterinarians and producers, test productions. Then trademark registration and founding of Pawzero GmbH.
Now we are revolutionizing litter box hygiene: with (in our opinion) the best cat litter in the world!

THE ONLY CAT LITTER WITH BIOHUMAT
Thanks to the BiOhumat formula developed by Uwe Wilms for TATZENSTREU, the cat litter box no longer smells. BiOhumat is a natural soil and plant additive. In organic farming, it is used to make the soil more fertile and promote plant growth. When BiOhumat is used, liquid manure and fermentation residues lose their smell due to the effect of microorganisms. We are using this innovative formula for the first time to stop the smell in TATZENSTREU and have the exclusive rights to BiOhumat for small animal litter.
WHY SPIRULINA ALGAE IN CAT LITTER?
Instead of conventional bentonite, which releases harmful fine dust when scratching in the litter box, TATZENSTREU contributes to the cat's health with every trip to the toilet. We add spirulina algae to the litter, traces of which your cat absorbs when cleaning its paws. These micronutrients have an antibacterial effect and promote intestinal health. In addition to the positive effect on the immune system, this also benefits algae production on 29 German farms: We source the spirulina from the German Algae Cooperative (DAG), whose chairman Ulrich Averberg supports farmers in preserving former dairy farms by switching to algae cultivation. Our spirulina is high quality and free of microplastics - in contrast to maritime algae, which are contaminated by the plastic pollution of our seas.
WOOD PELLETS FROM SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION
The special pellet shape of TATZENSTREU prevents the cat litter from spreading and ensures that the area around the litter box is clean. The pellets are pressed sustainably from sawmill waste and mixed with spirulina algae. They are made from fir wood from FSC-certified cultivation . Our pellets are produced by Daniel Kordic and his company Eksid in Croatia. The fir wood is chemical-free, has an antibacterial effect and - unlike conventional litter boxes - gives off a pleasant smell.
