This beautiful Bracenet shopper offers space for all your essentials – and there’s even room for a quick trip to the store! This bag from ghost nets is a great everyday companion and makes a sets statement for conscious consumption that is good for the earth and oceans. The upcycled bag is made of high-quality, resource-friendly woven hemp fabric and recovered ghost nets. It is handmade by Bracenet, with support from the Lebenshilfewerk Neumünster. Strictly limited – new colours will hopefully follow soon! About the bag:

Washable at 40°C. Ideally by hand with a gentle detergent
Every product is unique and may differ slightly from the pictures

Material:

35 cm wide, 39 cm high (dimensions may vary slightly)
Inner bag made of woven hemp fabric in a herringbone pattern, undyed and unbleached and organically cultivated
Outer net made of recovered ghost net (HDPE), green/yellow
Handles made from ropes of recovered ghost nets or discarded fishing equipment (HDPE), green/white
Carrying handle and tag with Bracenet logo made of brass
Sewn with strong cotton thread

SALVAGED NETS

The 250 divers from Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving are traveling worldwide, braving wind and waves, to retrieve more and more ghost nets They have now recovered over 773 tons – roughly equivalent to the weight of 6 blue whales. Our donations fund, among other things, boat rentals, safety training, and diving equipment. Thank you for your help!

NETS UPCYCLED

After retrieval, the ghost nets are initially sorted and cleaned with water by Nofir. Then, we process them with loving upcycling craftsmanship in Hamburg into many new products, such as Bracenets and dog leashes. So far, we’ve given around 190,000 meters of net a new lease on life – equivalent to the length of a total of 8,000 sperm whales!

To find your wrist size easily:

Wrap a shoelace, ribbon, or piece of string around your wrist.
Measure the length with a ruler.
Select size depending on how tight or loose you want it (about 1cm – 1.5cm larger than circumference of the wrist). The size measurements include the closure.
